The Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society (FOUVS), formed in 1984, is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that provides essential services to the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village (UCHV) and raises funds to ensure that UCHV can complete its mandate.
Some of the essential services that the Friends Society provides are:
- the Historical Interpreter’s program, which hires interpreters to portray the lives of the original inhabitants of the farms and businesses that make up the Village
- Food Services
- Museum Shop
- Village Markets
- Weeklong Historic Children’s and Junior Interpreter’s day-camps in July and August
- Ukrainian Music Fest
- Harvest of the Past Food Festival
Besides providing essential services, FOUVS mission is to financially support the Village. Each year, the Friends Society plans a number of fundraising activities and actively solicits donations. Over the course of thirty year of operations, FOUVS has funded essential research (structural, material and narrative histories) for many of the buildings at the Village, paid for transporting and restoring buildings, and in 2014 we started to fund the restoration and purchase of furnishing and artifacts to complete the final stage of developing the Village. In the next couple of years, and with your support, we can complete the Village and re-imagine its future.
