Join us for our final special event of the season and witness traditional harvest activities from the period of 1892-1930.
Visitors will be able to view an old-fashioned threshing bee in operation and see costumed interpreters re-enact agricultural methods of harvesting complete with vintage farm equipment and grain deliveries to the historic elevator. Other historical activities include sickle/scythe cutting and bundle tying, stooking, flailing and winnowing, flower and herb drying, feather stripping, making kisla kapusta (sour cabbage), grinding wheat, baking using a pich and canning of produce from the museum’s heritage gardens.
Wagon rides and other authentic activities in the historical village will allow visitors of all ages to share a sense of the Ukrainian settler experience in east central Alberta.
